Well maybe more like an B+
Laclede Gas officially changed it's website this week on April 1, 2010 to reflect a wonderful promotion of it's non-discrimination policy:
Laclede Gas Company (Laclede) is an equal opportunity employer and prohibits discrimination and harassment in all employment decisions. Laclede pledges itself to the following policy for all personnel and applicants for employment:
Laclede will hire, place, upgrade, transfer, promote, recruit, solicit for employment, treat during employment, pay and otherwise compensate, select for training and development and lay off or dismiss without regard to race, color, sex, age, religion, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, veteran status or information protected by the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (“GINA”), or other protected status, in accordance with Federal, State, and local laws.
(Yes, although we are happy with sexual orientation, we are sad they did not include Gender Identity.)
We were sent a personal letter from Timothy Golden, Employment Manager of Laclede Gas Company stating how he looks forward to working with HRC on their Equality Survey. Mr. Golden was thankful for bringing the matter to his attention and continues to work toward providing the best workplace for all Laclede Gas employees. We are hopeful we can get Mr. Golden and Laclede Gas to add Gender Identity to this policy.
A big thank you goes out to Chloe Astor-Huntington at TransHaven, A.J. Bockelman at PROMO and John Mancuso with the local St. Louis HRC chapter.
